Christian Horner comes from a family of car enthusiasts, where his grandfather and father opened a company to provide and supply different car parts to automobile manufacturers. This led him to drop out of high school and start his automobile career as a race car driver. 

Through his zeal and enthusiasm, he was awarded a Formula Renault Scholarship in 1991, enabling him to drive in the British Formula Renault in 1992. In 1993 he entered F3, competing in the British Formula 3 Championship, winning 5 races and taking the second position in the series.
